The Black Presence In Canada

An unidentified black woman, [ca. 1890].
(Archives of Ontario, F2076-16-4-7)
I came across the Archives of Ontario website while looking for vintage images of people of African decent. Much to my surprise and delight, there is a wealth of images like the one to the left on the site.Other resources relating to the Black presence in Canada include online exhibits and a Lesson Resource Kit about Black Canadian Migration Experiences.

Footstool Reupholster Project

I found this lovely cast iron footstool at a thrift store and instantly knew it would be perfect for reupholstering with one of my fabric designs. I chose the design, Beauty Is Here Because I am Here.  And, the project turned out more beautiful than I had imagined.

Holiday Ornaments

I ordered sample swatches of the fabrics I designed for my Spoonflower Shop. I received them last week. They turned out beautifully.

As I was sharing my swatches and excitement about my shop with a friend, the subject of holiday ornaments came up. From that conversation, I created these two ornaments (Black is Beautiful and Cameroun Belle respectively).
